30 Days...
Well peeps, in just 6 more days I will be a nursing school graduate! In just 9 short days, I will be a proud parent to my little fur-baby Dakota. In one in a half months I leave to go to England/Germany for 2 weeks! Now...if only i could find a job. : ( What happened to that nursing shortage? All the major hospitals in the Texas Medical Center (which by the way is HUGE) are on a hiring freeze. Only half of my class has jobs lined up, while the graduates from my program last year ALL had jobs before graduation. I haven't had so much as an interview. *sighs* I thought I'd be hella marketable with 2 bachelor's degrees and graduating from one of the top 10% of nursing schools in the country. I heard other cities like Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas were hiring people left and right, but since Amz got a job here, i need to get hired here too! So...the search continues. If any of you, by chance, know some nurse manager in the Houston area, tell 'em a UT graduate nurse is looking for work whereve she can get it!

40 days...
Just got back from Vegas with a huge smile on my face and huge blisters on my feet! Didn't win any money, but I had a great time, saw a few shows, and got to attend my best friends' wedding! The plane rides there sucked ass...but otherwise i enjoyed the trip. Hell, i even survived leaving the weekend before a big test! Whew...now just to hang in there until May 7th (cuz i'm skipping graduation).
We pick up our baby boy on May 11! He already has his first vet appointment set up and we're going to look @ puppy daycare this weekend.

54 days...
So i took the most hideous, ugly, stupid, really dumb test today. I didn't do all that well, but I still have a passing average. Thank goodness for extra credit.
Amz is in the midst of her 2nd day at her new job. She came home for her lunch hour and proclaimed "If i fill out any more paperwork, my hand is going to fall off!" She also has been driving all over creation and back again. Hopefully, she'll get to stay local from now on. They are giving her a laptop to work on, and she gets part of her cell phone bill covered. The state is also paying for her health insurance in full (except for dental - but that's only $7 a month). She's visiting her very own office at the moment. =) Now if only I could find a job...
I graduate in a month! Oi, this month will suck tho! Dakota, our pup, is coming right after graduation. Then, once I find a job, we can work out all the TTC plans!

57 days...
Amber and I have had a great time tonight. It's just been nice to be able to spend an evening together. :-)
Probably against my better judgement, I went ahead and worked today. I was super tired and concerned about school/studying most of the day, but I went in to help my mom. However, I didn't do as much as I normally do. I kinda feel bad that I wasn't more help. I only taught 1 class, but I did help supervise, which is what any other sub would have done. *shrugs* I'll do better next time. On the bright side, I did make $70 for playing some form of tag/dodge ball for most of the day. lol.
Oh, about our night...*smiles* we started by driving up to Amber's place of work. She always gets nervous when she drives some place new. It was a pretty simple drive, so we goofed off and joked most of the time. It was nice to smile in each other's presence and just be. We went to Wal-Mart to pick some stuff up, which we ended up not being able to find/forgetting, but we got a really good deal on some supplies for Dakota (who is now 2 weeks old) and we bought my sister a birthday cake (even tho her bday was almost half a month ago but shes just now having a party). We came home and socialized with my sis and a few of her friends for a bit, and then headed out to see "I Love You, Man" which was effin' hilarious. Now we're just chillin' at home.
Yup, that's what's up.

62 days...
Well, as long as I pass all my classes (which I think I can do), I am officially cleared for graduation. I passed the HESI on the 1st try! That made me feel a lot better, but the day got worse as it progressed, and it's only 1:20.
I had gotten an email this morning about meeting with one of my profs. I already had been sick to my stomach this morning, and an email with a "see me" just made me feel worse! We discussed one of my clinical evaluations where my preceptor thought that I lacked initiative. I'm kind of shocked by it, but there's nothing I can do about it now. I think it hurt my feelings more than anything since I really thought that my preceptor and I had kind of a buddy relationship. We joke around, she swears like a sailor, and we laugh a lot. I thought I was getting better; she apparently thinks otherwise. *shrugs* Sooooo, now I get to have a meeting with her and my clinical faculty! Woohoo.
While I was in there talking to my prof, my stomach started hurting badly. I know it was brought on by stress and by already feeling bad this morning. The prof asked if I was feeling okay, and I told her about my stomach issues, and before I realize what she's doing...she's on the phone with a nurse practitioner at the campus health center basically setting me up an appointment. I told her that regardless of health right now, that I wouldn't be able to pay for an expensive visit...the bank account is pretty low now that its close to graduation and since I've been saving for Vegas. I also told her that it was a chronic issue that i've dealt with for a while, so i'd rather just go when I have the means to do so. Well, now she thinks that if I wait the chronic condition may become acute so she's freaking out. I know my body and altho I do agree that i should get checked out, I am fairly certain that waiting 2 months isn't going to make that much of a difference.
Ugh...she just called. I guess I'm going to try and come in tomorrow and deal with this. I know I'm studying to be a nurse, but I fucking hate doctors (especially when there are going to be doctors WITH medical students). Again...woohoo.
To top it all off, the girl I was sitting next to apparently thinks I type too loud or something, cuz she moved across the room to the other side of the computer lab.
Yay for today.

63 days...
Sorry I've been a bad blogger. The semester just picked up a bit, and I've been doing night clinicals out the wazoo! Tomorrow I have my exit exam for HESI, which could keep me from graduating if not passed by May. We have 3 chances to make an 850, which I've been told is pretty difficult to do. I will admit that I'm kinda just walking in to this one, to see what knowledge I do have, and am pretty sure I'm going to fail this time. I guess I'm taking this one like a practice test, to see what the test is like and what I need to brush up on before the second one. So i'm off to study some for that, directly after blogging.
Amber has been out of town since Friday. It was her B-day on Friday, and she went to go spend time with her family. Parts of me wish I could have gone, and other parts are glad I stayed. *shrugs* I always feel more at home when I'm with her, so I most likely would've gone if I were able to. I'm jealous she got her mom's home-made buffalo wings and got to play with 9 week old puppies all weekend.
I'll post more pics of Dakota as soon as the breeder gives us more. Hope all is well out there!
